I got a really nice letter, one
that has given me inspiration and motivation to keep writing in
my blog and to keep my website up and running.
The letter was from a lady in the
US who calles herself a recreational skater. She said she was a
regular reader of my website and missed my updates and hoped I
would write more. Her passion for speed skating, like my very
own passion, made me think that I should keep updating from my
adventures and happenings.
The real reason for me not
updating is of all the negative attention the website was
getting. It just isn't fun working hard to keep an updated site
when all you get back is negative comments, spam as feedback,
rumours posted about yourself and workout pictures sent to porn
sites. I understand that spandex sports suits can be a turn on
for some people, but this is a personal website dedicated to a
professional sport and I have no wish that any race photos
should be plastered on sleezy discussion boards.
Where is the fun in giving so much
of yourself if there is never any appreciation of your work? I'm
not asking for praise or regular communication with my readers,
just a stop to the abuse of my work and to make speed skating
websites into a friendly environment. ...it's not like we are a
big community...
Anyhow, I did get a really nice
letter and it was so inspiring that it made me want to keep my
website running and regularly updated like before with sports
news and personal news, photos and events.
